Two-times a charm for buyers in Ovens, Cork
Things come in twos in Cork’s Classis Lake development — even the spelling has an alternative, as readily spelled ‘Classes’ as ‘Classis’.
Perhaps the split comes down to the fact the popular house scheme is set over two addresses, Ballincollig and Ovens?
And, now, two brothers, Con and Barry Nagle, of Global Properties, have two broadly similar homes to sell in this large development by O’Callaghan Properties just west of Cork.
Continuing the theme of twos, there’s interest from two camps, both investor and owner- occupiers, with one as keen to buy and to let out, as the other is to keen to buy so they can stop renting.

Right now, given the demand and the extremely strong employment base in come-of-age boom town Ballincollig, rents for good family homes are soaring and can tip €1,400 per month (a larger four-bed here was recently let at €1,800 per month) and, prices to buy are on the rise too.
There’s €10,000 in the purchase price difference between these broadly similar four-bed detacheds, with 7 The Brambles Classes Lake guided at €315,000, while 23 Chestnut Meadows is a tad dearer at €325,000.
Each is around 1,500sq ft, and both are in good condition, says Barry Nagle, saying a lot of those he’s showing to now are current tenants in the area, looking to get into home ownership.

For aspiring home owners, No 7 The Brambles has an extra out the back, its very own American-style log cabin, used as a games room, and set in the south-facing back garden (pic, above).
Built in 2004, No 7 is both well-designed and finished, and like its counterpart at 23 Chestnut Grove, it has one of its four bedrooms with en suite, and has a ground floor guest WC.
Both 7 The Brambles and 23 Chestnut Grove came to market in the run up to summer holidays, and now with schools returning, sales are expected to pick up pace accordingly, with offers on both.
Nearby are employers like EMC, and expanding VMWare, as is Ballincollig Town Centre, schools, rugby, tennis, soccer and pitch and putt amenities.
Creme de classis.
