Most of the houses of the same vintage as Kilcrea’s Park’s Rahara are by now showing their age here — so don’t be fooled by this home’s 1950s vintage and origins.

This extended three-bed semi-d is just off the Magazine Road in Cork’s handy inner western suburbs, and is new to market priced at €315,000 by auctioneer Jeremy Murphy.

He had almost 20 people at his first open viewing this week and the fact it needs no work is another key to its appeal, Mr Murphy reckons.

It had a single storey rear kitchen/diner extension added in traditional style in 2000, and just last year it had a new kitchen added once more, so that it all feels up to date.

Plus, helping it get a C2 building energy rating, are solar panels for hot water, with a 260 litre tank installed, while the cavity walls have been pumped with thermal insulation.

Rahara has been owner-occupied, with all the signs of care, and its buyers will be similar, Mr Murphy reckons — it’s too good for investors, despite being near UCC and the Bon Secours.

Rahara has front and back gardens, a garage, and off-street parking.
