BRAND new, out of the box houses with an A-BER rating and thus the promise of home comforts and low energy bills?

Throw in a still-low level of any fresh construction in and around Cork city, and it’s no wonder that a hungry market is snapping up new product, as quickly as it comes out of the ground.

Case in point are sales at two different developments underway with O’Leary & O’Sullivan (OLOS) Developments, near Blarney and in a great Mayfield location, by the GAA pitch.

Earlier this month, OLOS released seven detached houses at Drom Slí, Courtbrack on the edge of Blarney, and sold all bar one over the course of a weekend, with traditional, air-tight block-built homes of 1,785 sq ft, priced at €289,950, and 2,272 sq ft four-beds, at €319,950.

All have solar panels, sun rooms, stoves and decent sites, says selling agent Donal Cronin, noting that ease of access to Cork city and Ballincollig added to their appeal.

There is a similar level of take-up at their Mayfield Ard na Coille development, in an elevated setting on the edge of the city’s suburbs.

Four of the seven released here sold on the phase 2 launch earlier this month, and would-be buyers can see the standard of build as phase one’s nearing completion, says Mr Cronin.

Ard na Coille has 24 houses in total, three- and four-bed A-rated terraced and semi-ds, with sizes from 1,169 sq ft (three-bed terraced), selling at €219,950, and even more sizeable four-bed semis of 1,468 sq ft, at €259,950.

There are examples of each house type left, says Donal Cronin, who’s showing on site today and tomorrow, 2-4pm.
