Following a very recent ‘sale agreed’ on the 19th century seven-bed Tralee area guesthouse Glenduff House, on 6.7 acres for c €500,00 via agents DNG Stack, comes another guest and bar business — with an even longer pedigree.

New to market this week with REA O’Shea O’Toole is the Rising Sun Guest House in south Kilkenny’s pretty, and pretty hurling obsessed, Mullinavat.

It’s an updated and modernised old world charming sort of business, with roots as an ale house going back to the Cromwellian era, 1644. It has been restored by owners Breda and Jim Phelan, the latter is also a builder who works and finishes to a very high standard, notes selling agent Brian O’Shea.
