Offices for €950,000 in Fermoy not run-of-mill

An office scheme of two inter-linked blocks, totalling 33,000 sq ft on 3.5 acres, has come for sale in the North Cork town of Fermoy.

Surveyors Philip Horgan and Sean Healy of DTZ say the property, overlooking the Blackwater, has historic mill links, and one of the buildings is by an old mill race.

These buildings are in two, self-contained office premises, joined by an internal corridor. One (pic right) is a two-storey block of 21,000 sq ft, mostly open-plan, with some private offices and service rooms.

The other heritage building, by the mill race, is a renovated, five-storey, 19th century industrial property of 12,000 sq ft, with stone facade. It was converted and upgraded to office use around 1990.

Occupiers since have included Metropolitan Life, Bupa Healthcare and Quinn Healthcare, among others.

Philip Horgan says that a recent major boost for Fermoy was the news of expanding US engineering firm, ABEC Inc’s plans to revamp the former, 87,000 sq ft Fermoy FCI plant, which is on 13 acres. This will create 100 jobs over the next two years.

“The IDA and the Fermoy Enterprise Board have attracted such business to Fermoy, with the latter attracting industries such as SCI, Metropolitan Life and Berg Electronics,” says Mr Horgan, pointing to other, recent municipal upgrades in Fermoy — and to now-concluding flood-prevention works, which reportedly cost €38m.
