Trading up: Spur Hill, Cork, €450,000

There’s a country setting, but suburban conveniences almost to hand, at this detached home called Belmont.

Trading up: Spur Hill, Cork, €450,000

This 1980s dormer home is on a flat level site of three-quarters of an acre, on Spur Hill, on the inclines leaving Cork city’s Wilton and Togher suburbs.

Cork airport is up and over the back of the hill, and roads passing Belmont lead as handily out to Ballinhassig, Ballygarvan, or Kinsale via Fivemilebridge, while the Bandon Road and viaduct is reached via the narrow, but convenient, Maher’s Lane.

Yet, for all those access options to rural outlying areas, the Wilton bus service is just a kilometer or so’s walk downhill to Sarsfield’s Road.

That mix of suburban and rural lifestyle offer will be the key now to interest in the sale of this 1,800 sq ft four-bed home, with detached garage.

Estate agent Johnny O’Flynn guides Belmont at €450,000, and says there’s up to three reception rooms, one linked or open-plan, off the kitchen, to the back of the dwelling.

The largest is the living room, 18’ by 13’, and several others are bit narrower than that.

There’s one ground floor bedrooms by a guest WC, and upstairs one of the three other bedrooms is en suite.

VERDICT: A clean buy, and could easily be updated or extended for a sun room or something even more substantial.
