Having tweaked their house design to suit their preferences 11 years ago, now that it’s time to sell and move on, the owners of No 6 Cois Fota are bound to have mixed feelings.

They adapted the 2,700 sq ft dormer four/five-bed home by Belvelly bridge, Great Island in Cork harbour back in 2003, when quality builder Joe Neville from Kinsale built 10 houses here in a special setting, and in a horseshoe-shaped scheme.

Right now “it’s a man cave, for watching matches on the TV,” says selling agent Trish Stokes of Lisney. More immediate are physical views to engage the eye from No 6 which include the Martello tower at Belvelly as well as the even older ruin of the tower/castle by the water’s edge, at the picturesque humpback Belvelly bridge.
