A calling to the bar

The 60-year old’s first career was as a maths and science teacher; next came auctioneering, then cattle farming, and more latterly came a spell as a county councillor (and a run at the Dáil) in Cork with Fine Gael, but he decided not to run again after a five year spell in local politics.
Now this week he takes over the former McCarthys bar, and a staff of over 20, at Eden Hall, Model Farm Road, a purpose built complex alongside many hundreds of student apartments, on the site of the former Tennis Village.
