Wilton unit the right fit for Skechers

SHOE retailers Skechers have found a second Cork shopping mall footprint, taking a 2,400 sq ft-plus mezzanine vacated by A-Wear at the Wilton Shopping Centre.

Already in Cork’s Mahon Point, the expansionist firm is now fitting out its Wilton store, close to Tesco, and plans an October 9 opening.

The deal was done by Seamus Costello of DTZ Sherry FitzGerald, who had been seeking €110,000 pa, on a long lease. It’s understood the rent secured exceeded the guide.

“Skechers will be an excellent addition to Wilton Shopping Centre, as they’ll provide an exciting and ever-popular international fashion brand to the centre, which is anchored by Penneys and Tesco, and is one of Cork’s busiest,” said Mr Costello. Other retailers include New Look, Lifestyle, Swamp and Specsavers.

Also now offered at Wilton is Unit 32 and 33a, vacated by O’Donovans Butchers, extending to 1,400 sq ft near Penneys, Boots and Holland and Barrett. Rent sought isn’t disclosed by DTZ, but is likely to be in the region of €70k pa.
