A Tipperary family, whose 1919-founded electrical business now employs 14,500 people in 30 countries, and which sold last month for $2bn, is selling a 390-acre Clonmel estate, seeking €8 million via Sherry FitzGerald’s country home division.

The Kent family were associated with global engineering giant Kentz, and got planning in boom times for a golf and hotel resort at the Georgian mansion Marlfield House.

However, as they are “focused on international business interests, the family believe that the sale to a new owner presents the best opportunity to maximise the potential of this unique estate, in a manner which benefits the town of Clonmel”.
