Trading up: Sunday’s Well, Cork €475,000
Lisheen, near Wellington Bridge in Cork’s Sunday’s Well suburb, is on an exceptional riverside site. But, it’s also a considerable renovation challenge.
Essentially two old houses, with as much as a century in age difference between them, they’ve been derelict and vandalised in recent years, with a couple of market dalliances, hopes raised, and dreams dashed.
Now, with 150’ river frontage on the Lee’s north channel, it’s set for sale once more, guided in the high €400,000s by Robert O’Keeffe of Irish and European, who says when redone, it will be truly exceptional.
It will need as much, or even more, spent on it than its €475k guide, so viewers would want to be realistic about budgets and get professional advice.
That said, houses back along the riverbank have sold in the past for over and under the €1m level, while a large period semi Coolahra with riverside gardens (directly opposite Fitzgeralds Park) is for sale for €1.275m by Dominic Daly and Ganly Walters.
Lisheen has the potential to be a landmark private home, and — importantly — escaped the devastating November 2011 city floods.
