Application withdrawn for quay office site

Progressive Commercial Construction’s application for a major office development on Cork’s Albert Quay has been withdrawn.

Application withdrawn for quay office site

The John Cleary company’s plans for a nine-storey development, to the front of the block dominated by the Elysian tower, were the subject of a number of appeals after being approved by Cork City Council. But following instigation of High Court challenge regarding the council’s handling of the application, An Bord Pleanála has been notified of the application’s withdrawal by Progressive Commercial Construction Ltd and Bam Properties. The legal proceedings were being taken by Elysian Management Ltd, linked to the Elysian developers O’Flynn Construction. The management firm was one of the appellants in relation to the permission, others including An Taisce, and James Romaine and Donal Leader of Monahan Road Developments.

* Cork City Council has given the go-ahead for the use of retail and residential space in a city centre development for offices. In February, Rockfell applied for a permanent change of use to a ground floor retail unit and three mezzanine level apartments in the Cornmarket Centre on Cornmarket Street. It was lodged as a five-year permission for the change of use was about to lapse.
