Athlone hotel at the heart of it all

Guided at just under €1m is the 71-bed Midlands hotel, the Creggan Court, part of a roadside complex in the centre of Ireland, at Athlone.

Built about 12 years ago, the Co Westmeath hotel with restaurant and other facilities is at the Kilmartin Roundabout, just off the M6 Dublin-Galway motorway, and shares a site with a service station, a McDonalds and a Subway, as well as DIY store Woodies.

The area on the Shannon is popular with tourists, with waterborne cruise holidays and golf, and close to this hotel is the Athlone Institute of Technology, with its new €10m international indoor running track.

Selling agent John Hughes of CBRE says the Creggan Court was designed for easy management and has a 80-seat restaurant, a bar, and four meeting rooms.

The bedrooms are on three levels with lift access and allow for twin, double and family occupancy.
