4Home a perfect fit for retail buyer

It’s like a second town has been built behind the original streetscape of Macroom in mid-Cork, where the former 4Home store has come up for sale and is likely to be bought for convenience retailing.

4Home a perfect fit for retail buyer

Built on the old mart site and by the old Fair Green, it’s one of a large cluster of buildings which has given the town, which serves a rural catchment of 20,000, a strong retail draw.

Among the neighbours are Lidl, Dunnes Stores, Boots, Cork Marts, a NCT car test centre, and a Primary Health Centre and the 2.4 acre site is bounded to the north by the Sullane river.

The modern building built as a DIY and garden store has 28,000 sq ft in all, with good parking and outdoor display area. A recent planning grant allows for it to be adapted to serve as 17,200 sq ft of retail, with adjoining DIY in the remaining 11,000 sq ft portion.

It has got suspended ceilings, high-bay loading, canteen and WCs.

It’s for sale with Declan Hickey of Downing Commercial, acting jointly with Eamonn O’Brien of CCM Property Services. Guide price is €1.5 million.
