Trading up: Blackrock Road, Cork €340,000

At least four of the 1960s built houses have sold in the Richmond Estate off Cork’s Blackrock and Boreenmana Roads in the past three or four years, at prices from €260,000 to €375,000, depending on size, condition and aspect. Now, into that steady-selling category comes No 11, a four-bed semi-d with a €340,000 asking price via estate agent Timothy Sullivan, who also had one of the last resales of a do-er upper in Richmond.

He says the setting is in one of Blackrock’s finer estates, close to the city centre, and it has a few extra positives — a west-facing back garden which looks out over the acres of manicured grounds belonging to the African Missions, a back-door savannasized vista unlikely to change for years to come.
