A lot of house(s) for bargain price

A large, almost new family home with cash lavished on it and with few ‘grand’ house touches too, plus a second, detached lofted ‘leisure house’ and all on a three-quarter acre site three miles from Cork city, is up for sale for less than the cost of building it — and that’s even without the site costs.

An absolute bargain for what’s to hand is how agent Shane Finn of DNG Creedon describes this Killeens home, built only in 2007, and now being sold by emigrating owners who’ve left a bit of a legacy here for the next occupants.

Not only is there a main home with over 3,000 sq ft of space, but there’s also a second building, which houses a living room, a play room with bathroom attached, and an overhead gym.

If you’re not into games and fitness, there’s scope for it to be used as a granny flat.

The main residence is dormer/two storeys, with a quite grand staircase running up the centre of its hall, with white-painted risers and spindles either side and hardwood rails and treads.

One of the two very large main living rooms/part dining room is graced by ornate fluted columns, with gilt scrolled tops, and this multi-use formal room links then to the well-fitted kitchen with island.

VERDICT: A lot of house, plus second building, and site for the money quoted, as there’s been lots gone into the landscaping as well.
