Smart buy for a smart(er) price

When first built back in 2004, a trio of red-brick, three storey townhouses on Tramore Terrace in Douglas village had €500,000 asking prices as new buys, just out of the box, promising gadgets galore, Smart wiring for tecchie types, barbecues for never-ending sunny evenings, and saunas for later on.

Even for all the heady optimism of that era they were costly options, and now one in the middle, No 2, is back up for sale (it’s currently rented out) with a €175,000 asking price.

And, something close to that should be eminently achievable for agent Timothy Sullivan, who points to its positives: three floors of space and over 1,200 sq ft in all, a sauna, a cracking location near every conceivable location — and it stayed high and dry, removed from the flooding which so grievously hit the core of Douglas village during ‘summer’ 2012.
