Ruden awakening

Cork builder John Deane tells Tommy Barker why he is still building new houses

Ruden awakening

TWENTY-ONE years in business, 1,780 houses built to date, 160 more to follow in Ovens — and now this weekend, developer John Deane of Ruden Homes pulls another 33 just-built Cork city homes out of the bag, with the promise that buyers can be in for Christmas.

One of just a tiny handful of new home builders still producing new stock anywhere in Ireland, and breaking ground on further builds for next year, he’s releasing houses priced from €195,000 for three-bed terraced homes at Ardcahon Way. It’s part of his 250-house Coolkellure development at Leghenaghmore, where he’s previously built 85 homes at Manor Farm, and a further 170 or so at Mathew Hill and Laurel Brook.
