Hidden charms of Willow Dale

Hidden charms of Willow Dale

It’s unlikely that you’ll be familiar with Willow Dale, it’s hidden, not once, not twice, but effectively thrice.

It’s off the two main Douglas roads in Cork City, beyond a small development off the Cross Douglas Road called Willow Court, whose presence is signalled by gracious, billowing willow trees.

Then, you have to wend your way through Willow Court’s brick townhouses, pass through what seems like a chicane, and lo! you’ve found Willow Dale, peaceful, hidden, and private.

There’s only a half dozen or so homes here, and they rarely come up for sale, so there’ll be curiosity value alone in the arrival of No 2 to market with Trish Stokes of Lisney.

It’s a four-bed semi-d, with a bit of distinctiveness to its front facade thanks to simple things like the brick arch around the front door.

No 2 has one of its four beds en suite, there’s a guest WC, and two ground floor reception rooms, the larger to the front is 17’ deep by 10’ wide, with cast iron fireplace.

There’s also a kitchen diner, and utility, so really all the requisites are in place.

Then, factor in a sun-trap stepped back patio, and the benefits of 20-year old landscaping to the back especially, and overall, No 2’s a pretty good package for a family on the move.

VERDICT: Suburban semis rarely come is an private a setting, and the city centre is a very manageable walk away, as is Douglas village itself.
