EVEN the opposition says it — the Allsops auction arrival has helped shift the Irish property market out of its moribund stupor over the past 18 months, with hundreds of properties sold, and price levels benchmarked — however unpalatable they may be.

And, now it will be blazing gavels time on Oct 3 when Allsops run their autumn sale, their biggest yet, with 127 lots, to include a former Cork pharmacy building with a €25,000 reserve, and a Tipperary convent on five acres for €10,000. Also in the mix is the former Cork city pub Paddy the Farmers, with a €480,000 reserve via receiver Barry Donohue of KPMG, down from a one-time market sales high of €2m, and a 2011 price guide of €925,000, to include its nine apartments.

Other Cork lots include a modern business unit at 25 East Gate Drive, Little Island, a c 3,000 sq ft unit with a €95,000 reserve, and a small c 336 sq ft former pharmacy at Turners Cross, guiding a mere€25,000.
