West Cork’s Tuck Mill has what’s described as ‘kerb appeal’ — only this rural place is off very quiet roads, effectively kerb-free. Yet, it’s a looker.

An eye-catching mix of property done up by a serial house renovator, the old mill complex is decidedly residential, with a four-bed house, added to by an old stone studio building, as well as a lofted timber clad garage, and it all looks down the folds in the landscape (well, 0.7 of an acre) to a pond, fed by the original mill stream which was coerced to swell to pond-size. Elevated viewing balconies and seating areas have been carefully sited to get those niche views.
