Almost hidden apartment real gem

Tommy Barker says No 4 Brookfield Mews is well worth consideration by buyers

Practically hidden away, yet in the centre of College Road’s major players UCC and the Bon Secours hospital in Cork, is Brookfield Mews — blink, and you’ll miss it.

There’s just four two-bed apartments in this one-off building, and now No 4 is for sale, with 820 sq ft of space, for a €175,000 AMV with agents Frank V Murphy & Co. They report good investor interest recently in this area, given the UCC factor (and fears over the euro currency’s stability,) and in the past few days went ‘sale agreed’ on a renovated terraced three bed that went over its €190,000 AMV, to tip the €200,000 mark with an investor buyer.

Nicely set in the same vicinity is 4 Brookfield Mews. It’s got a lawn area in front to look at (‘cos No 4’s on the upper floor), with independent access, parking for two cars and there’s gas central heating and double glazing: each of the occupants here has a €900 pa service charge for maintenance, and the building’s just been underpinned.

In good overall order, No 4 has a 18’ by 14’ living/dining area, with dining table in the front bay, there’s a small kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms with built-is.

VERDICT: One of the quieter spots on College Road.
