Changing Kitchen Door Handles

WHAT YOU NEED:

* Drill and 5mm drill bit.

* Screwdriver. The powered, re-chargeable lithium-ion variety of screwdriver is handy for this and a hundred other jobs.

* Spirit level

* New handles. Try to find handles with an identical hole profile to save you drilling out new ones and disguising old ones. They run from 94-128mm in distances between holes.

* Pencil for making marks to drill out any new holes. Fixings are from the inside of the doors or drawers in general.

1 Holding the handles in place mark hole positions.

2 Check all holes from side to side are level to each other with a spirit level.

3 Using your drill and a suitable bit (5mm is standard), make a small starting pilot hole on the front of the drawer or cabinet.

4 Drill out all of the holes.

5 Attach the screws from the inside of drawers or inside of cabinet and using your fingers, followed by a couple of careful turns from a screwdriver fasten on the handle.

6 Knobs can simply be screwed into the position of the old ones.
