THE detached Douglas, Cork home Caragh on the salubrious Well Road may now be inched closer to a tempting sale, thanks to a further price drop designed to get a deal struck and new owners in the door.

The site’s the star here, with views over Douglas estuary and with the Mahon golf club’s manicured greenery backing up to the end of the long back garden.

But, the house isn’t bad either, dated as it stands but fundamentally sound: the current owner (who rather painfully paid over €1 million for Caragh as a site back in peak times 2006) got planning for a replacement 3,000 sq ft home, but didn’t proceed with it.
