THE architect owner of a traditional farmhouse at Mallow near Coppeen in west Cork has added extra space and interesting features to the old property.

In keeping with its original style and appearance, it has retained features such as exposed beams, lathed ceiling and a large open fireplace in the sitting room, but it now has three en suite bedrooms, a modern kitchen and a bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath as well.

During renovations the owners converted the old lean to shed at the side into extra accommodation. At ground level they put in a shower room and a dressing room and a stairway leading up to a bedroom in a self contained first floor extension.
