Quirky offering

IT’S a sign of the times — this house at Coolderihy, Macroom, is being sold because its owners are emigrating.

And while one half of this couple is Australian, the other is a builder — the return to the Antipodes is due in no small part to the current climate, in every sense.

The family are leaving behind a substantial cottage on an acre of ground and a property that’s a quirky, homely house with a fine, big extension, part of which is an open plan living space with three sets of French doors and a hand-cut roof with gorgeous salvaged beams.

The photographs belie the amount of space available as the Coolderihy cottage which started out as a two-up, two-down but which now comes with four to five bedrooms, (the fifth is a study), a den/ TV room with stove, a smaller living room in the old cottage with conservatory attached and a bathroom with separate bedroom.
