Buy yourself a little bit of history

BUILT in the 19th century by Irish architect Sir Richard Morrison, the Kerry glebe at Milltown needs the ministrations of a good designer and builder.

Kilcolman Glebe, Milltown, is almost 200 years old, and while it has been occupied up to recently its condition is poor – it needs extensive refurbishing, say auctioneers WH Giles & Co of Tralee, guiding it at €500,000.

There’s another rectory being provided for the new local Church of Ireland rector, hence this sale of the two-storey, five-bed period home of some distinction on two acres in Milltown, set back off the road and very private. It is expected to be bought by local families.

Its designer Sir Richard Morrison, was the son of an architect, and with his own son William Vetruvius Morrison was responsible for Fota House. Richard Morrison became a founder member of the Royal Institute of the Architects. Kilcolman Glebe dates to 1820.
