Little bit of history

A SLICE of local Midleton commercial life, plus the attractions of 0.4 acres of gardens in a town setting, come with 22, St Mary’s Road.

Little bit of history

This semi-detached period home has some stature, and was built initially by local contractor Jeremiah Coffey, who is also credited locally with building churches throughout east Cork, in spots like Midleton itself (across from this house,) in Ballycotton and Mogeely.

A neighbour still recalls the story of when Mr Coffey passed away how “when he lay dying in the house, straw was placed on the road outside from the bottom of the Rock right up St Mary’s Road so that the noise of traffic outside, cars and horse and carts, would not intrude unduly on his last moments!”
