Small in scale but in the right place

A CHOICE of cottages, one city, one country, are new to market in Cork this month — the only thing they have in common is diminutive stature and good settings.

The cheaper one is Crew Cottage, a 750 sq ft pad on a sub-quarter acre site at Coolmore on the Currabinny Road near Carrigaline.

Priced at €195,000 by Dennis Guerin of Frank V Murphy & Co, it appears to be made of prefabricated concrete panels, but squeezes in three bedrooms, plus bathroom with shower and open kitchen/living/dining space with a solid fuel stove.

Meanwhile, in the Donnybrook, Douglas area, auctioneer John Paul Sheehan of Lisney is selling 37 Donnybrook Cottages, again a three-bed, needing modernisation.

He seeks offers around €210,000.
