Greenways may be the ‘classiest semi-d in town’
Back on the market after an underpinning job, eight months after its first offering for years, it also has had a price reduction. An immaculate three-storey, four-bed home that’s a pleasure to view, Greenways has more than 1,700 sq ft of space, has scope for side/rear extension, but is perfect as it stands.
Auctioneer Brian Olden of Cohalan Downing relaunches Greenways to the spring market when its gardens don’t look as fetching as they did on first outing in June 2009, but you can imagine how they’ll blossom over the next few months. Price is 625,000, from last year’s €695,000, and it was selling around that level until the underpinning issue cropped up. It can’t have been too bad, the original plasterwork shows little if any sign of any strain or movement.
Windows have been replaced with sliding sash double glazed units in pvc frames, and heating is gas fired. Inside, all is pared back, tasteful, trim and respectful to its period origins and colours are bang-on for showing off art on the walls. The rear kitchen/diner has a great bank of maple units, granite topped, and French door access to the patio, compact walled rear garden, and a practical, old-fashioned solid garage/shed beyond.
The master bedroom is big, bay windowed and bright, the main bathroom is up to contemporary chic styling and is fully tiled, has a double ended bath and separate, large power shower enclosure, and there’s a separate WC next to it on the stair return, with a guest loo at ground level under the stairs.
For those who want a period Cork city home in walk-in condition, the icing on the cake at Greenways is location, within a walk of the city centre, the Marina, schools, shops, bars and Blackrock village.
