Cottage in ‘golden mile’ a winner

ONE to watch, this is going to be sold — and most likely at its October 23 auction.

Up for disposal along the River Bandon valley outside Innishannon in Co Cork is Riverview Cottage, a compact cottage on a valuable 0.75 acre site.

The stretch of road, linking Kinsale to Bandon/Innishannon, is considered a bit of a golden mile in property desirability terms, and this house/site is between the elegant (and expanding) Innishannon House Hotel and the road junction called the Found Out.

Being sold by the relatives of the man who lived here in this sunny spot, the tidy sized single story home may well give way to some grander residence for a new owner.

On either side, new larger dormer houses have cropped up, notes estate agent Ernest Forde of SWS Property Services in nearby Kinsale, and across the road is a quite spectacular, but discrete, waterfront home on large grounds.

Price indicated at the moment going to auction (it’s been some time on the market by private treaty) is c €250,000 for the cottage on a three-quarter acre site “but the reserve will be revealed on the day, and may well be lower,” says Mr Forde.
