Thatched cottage in scenic area
Location is 10 kilometres from Lough Derg, in a scenic area best know for the annual (early August) Feakle Festival of traditional music — so this offering fits right in with the area’s character.
This new market offering, in a village of 800 (previous inhabitants include Biddie Earley, and Brian Merriman of the Midnight Court fame) was built in the 1970s, as part of six similar properties in a ‘rent an Irish cottage’ scheme, and this one was subsequently bought in the 1980s by two American families, who’ve enjoyed the craic and hospitality for 20 years, says Paddy Darmody, of Sherry FitzGerald McMahon.
