Make Grove your treasure trove

A FOUR-BED semi-detached in a Cork southside suburb near major amenities and employers, and on a bus route, for under €300,000? It wouldn’t have come your way at this price level since the early 2000s.

Make Grove your treasure trove

However, while No 17 Glendale Grove tucked away off the Glasheen Road is affordable to a whole raft of would-be buyers at €290,000, that isn’t the full story: it pretty much needs a total refurbishment programme.

Seasoned selling agent Conor Smith, who recently joined up with Property Team O’Sullivan Estates, kindly says No 17 needs tender loving care — that and a skip, and a line of tradesmen and women at the door, more likely.

Accommodation, in this house with a bit of front facade variation from the usual flat face, includes hall with oak floor, two reception rooms, guest WC, kitchen, and four overhead bedrooms, main bathroom, and integrated garage, with conversion potential. There’s off-street parking, a walled front garden and a modest 42’ by 32’ back garden.

Once you start with changing windows, and knocking through rooms, and wiring, well, you might as well go for broke ... though not literally, of course.

Making investing in No 17 Glendale Grove worthwhile is, of course, the location, near UCC, CIT and the CUH, not to mention the WSC — that a new one, by the way, for the Wilton Shopping Centre, as well as LIDL.
