Perfect setting in city suburbs

A SIZEABLE city period terraced home, for €380,000? Yours — more or less — to take away, at 18 Frankfield Terrace in Cork inner suburbs.

Perfect setting in city suburbs

The three-storey, red-brick Victorian house, within a five to 10-minute walk of the city centre at Summerhill South, is part of a long row of listed (protected) structures, more or less intact, though it is one of the few to have broken ranks in the past decade or so by replacing original front sash windows with PVC replacement double-glazed units.

Though not in completely in keeping with the row, they at least give some creature comforts to occupants of No 18, which also has a recently installed combi gas heating. Add in the fact you’ve neighbours either side, meaning no heat loss via party walls, and new owners could be sitting pretty snug in this handily-set home.

It is on offer via agent Johnny O’Flynn of Sherry FitzGerald, who says it has kept some original features, such as hall tiling and one of the fireplaces and window shutters, but overall the house does need modernisation.

It has two ground floor reception rooms, a rear kitchen annex, a store by the back yard plumbed for a WC, and a walled-in back west-facing garden/yard with shed and some lawn.

Overhead there’s two bedrooms at first floor level, the main one 17’ by 15’ with two east facing windows to the front, the bathroom is to the back and the top attic level has three bedrooms.

Opposite the bus garage at Capwell, it has a limestone-walled front garden, and car owners will have to apply for on-street residents’ parking permits.
