Big bargains on offer in suburbia

BACK in December 2007, No 10 Wheatfields in Carrigaline, Co Cork, came under offer at €735,000 ... but went no further than early offers.

Roll on a year, and with a second agent appointed, a cool €100,000 has been peeled off the price of this built, but not occupied, house which is now guiding €635,000 with auctioneer Dan Howard of Dooley & Howard.

The four-bed 3,500 sq ft property is in the Wheatfields scheme of one-offs at Kilmoney, near the south Cork commuter town, where values have topped €800,000-plus for similar homes.
