City centre penthouse in a quay riverside location

QUAY HOUSE has a tucked away location in the centre of Cork city.

City centre penthouse in a quay riverside location

First launched in 2006, this 18-unit apartment scheme at Fitton Street now has its first resale. Number 17, a penthouse unit hits the market with Conor Flynn of Conor P Flynn and Associates.

The high end scheme by Oyster Developments, (current offering Downside on Farranlea Road), sits on a small city centre site in a slot behind the South Mall.

Designed by e-project architects, the penthouse has 800 square feet of space, but that’s not including a great, wraparound balcony.

And it comes with superb views over the Lee towards Union Quay and the new School of Music.

Cedar clad and with double doors from livingroom and bedrooms, this L-shaped projection tracks the sun all day and comes with extra deep eaves for rain-proofing.

There’s enough space for a decent dining table, a barbecue and mingling room on both terraces, which offer a very different viewpoint on the city’s oldest areas.

The two-bed is on the market for offers in the region of €400,000. And that’s pretty fair for a unique property in a city centre location, especially as the units had a guide of €380,000 initially.

The approach to Quay House is via Fr Mathew Street or Morrison’s Island. And although it doesn’t come with parking, there is a residents permit available — a valuable asset in the city.

The finish includes solid ash doors, floors and architrave and briefly, the accommodation runs to an open-plan living/ dining/ kitchen, two bedrooms, en suite and main bathroom.
