BUILT in the late 1990s, and since extended to the side by its owners, back from Australia, this Preghane, Kinsale, Co Cork, home packs quite a property package punch.

Local Kinsale estate agent James Murphy is selling the Pregane home for its owners, who have since built again, and he quotes a guide price of €1.35 million for the well-finished house, in an area characterised by very large one-offs.

He describes it as an executive detached house “with great countryside and sea views, in a naturally elevated position overlooking Middle Cove at the mouth of Kinsale harbour”. Those harbour views get better the higher up the site you go, and if you look back to Kinsale, the lights of Compass Hill glow out at night as another location-marker.

The recent investment and extension has also seen a new kitchen installed, and the add-on sun room on the gable is high-ceilinged, with a cast iron stove for off-season heating comfort.
