Great perch for The Highlands

BOUGHT by its owners back in 1981, but not lived in full-time in recent years, is the high-sited house at 21 The Highlands.

The 1970s bungalow is in the Highlands scheme in Glanmire, a 10 to 15 minute drive east of Cork city. Its setting on the higher end of the site means it has some of the best views over Cork’s river Lee estuary, Fota and harbour hinterland, says Lisney estate agent Anne Marie Kennedy.

She guides no 21 at €655,000, and says the more modernised houses here usually sell for well over this sort of sum: the asking here is on the lower side, given that it now needs modernisation and upgrading. With about 1,900 sq ft of space, it has four to five bedrooms, and is the perfect trading up house for families in the Glanmire/Glounthane areas, says Ms Kennedy. While other Highlands houses are two-storey, no 21 is on ground level only.
