THE cottage where artist British artist, Ian Breakwell retreated from London is to go to auction next week at the Celtic Ross Hotel in Rosscarbery.

The multi-media artist, whose work included painting, printmaking, photography, video, film and performance, died in October of 2005, a year after he was diagnosed with cancer.

The house from where he went sea trout fishing, (and tippling at the his local), is now going under the hammer on Friday, July 27.

The two-up, two-down, Blue Cottage at Downeen, Rosscarbery comes with an acre of land and carries a guide of €400,000.

The auction is being held by John Hodnett of SWS Property Services, who says the house has uninterrupted views of the Galley Head and Atlantic Ocean.

Less than five minutes drive from Roscarbery, the property is also close to the unspoilt harbour of Millcove.
