Contemporary living with great views of the river

THERE was a bit of a fuss for the opening of Riverbank, Bandon at the end of last month, with lots of Bandon’s great and good invited for the formal launch.

A contemporary development in the West Cork town, Riverbank is a 28-unit apartment scheme in cedar and render which does exactly what it says on the tin — it faces onto the Bandon river.

Designed by architect, Una O’Sullivan, this scheme has been in gestation since 2003 and was previewed on these pages in the autumn.

The doors are being thrown open today; three showhouse units will be on view from noon until 5.00 pm.

Selling agents, Bowe Properties will show the units on the day and these includes the top of the range, penthouses unit, a roof garden unit and a ground floor duplex apartment.

Sizes range from two-beds to three-beds and prices start at €395,000 and reach €500,00 for the three-bed penthouses. So far, 12 have been sold with sizes ranging from 65 to 99 square metres: the three-bed apartments at 109 sq m, however, have been sold.

According to Brendan Bow, the emphasis by the developers, Riverbank Developments, is on a premium product and all units are handed over with a turnkey-finish. This includes top class wiring and ducting, (including provision for digital), under floor heating, quartz and porcelain floors, carpeting and tiling, good kitchen and wardrobe finishes.

Superb river views and a walkway to the centre of the town, means these properties are a good investment, says Brendan Bowe.

The scheme qualifies for a range of Section 23 tax relief, which can be claimed in the first ten years.

The Riverbank show units have been designed by interior decorator, Mary Dineen with soft furnishings sourced through Interior Solutions, Carrigaline, who also fitted the new Carlton Hotel in Kinsale and featured on the recent RTÉ Showhouse series.
