Castlepark village wins the green vote without compromising comfort

THEY might not vote Green but people are definitely voting green with their money at Castlelands’ Castlepark Village in Mallow.

Phase two of the A rated energy-efficient development has just been launched by the company that recently hit the headlines with their unprecedented pitch for Douglas Golf Club and other assertive property plays.

Castlelands’ A1 energy rated properties can save purchasers up to 50% on heating, lighting and hot water, it is claimed.

Homes at Castlepark come with underfloor gas heating, solar panels for hot water and high-spec Warmcell cellulose insulation made from recycled newspapers.

There are 141 three and four-bed townhouses and semi-detached homes for sale off the plans in phase two, where prices start at €307,500. Being green doesn’t mean sacrificing comfort.

Each property also includes a central vacuum system, whirlpool bath, beech finished joinery, coved ceilings, recessed lighting and fitted kitchens with granite work tops and under-mounted sinks.

Besides being green, Castlelands also pride themselves on creating sustainable communities as opposed to simply housing estates.

The company provided funding of €8 million to assist Mallow GAA in completing the 64,000 sq ft state-of-the-art facility two minutes from Castlepark.

The complex spans 35 acres and has a seating capacity for 2,000 plus standing room for a further 6,000 people.

They are also working closely with Mallow Rugby Club, providing them with 20 acres of land, as well as developing their club house and three pitches.

Meanwhile, they will be the first developer in Ireland to build a gael scoil, Mainistir na Corann, parallel to their new Castlerock development at Baneshane, Midleton.

The 16-classroom school with playing pitches, a basketball court and parking, will be handed over by the company to the Department of Education, next year.

Such facilities, which also include connecting roads, are an added incentive.

Phase One of Castlepark Village went on sale in April 2005, with 154 homes sold within 12 weeks.

The development is located in a parkland setting adjacent to the Blackwater river and Mallow GAA club on St Joseph’s Road, Carrigoon, Mallow.
