Seventies style for €800,000

ARCHITECT-designed in the 1970s, Redwood is a detached family home of 2,000 sq ft, on a 0.8 acre site, and with scope galore.

Seventies style for €800,000

Distinctively styled and spacious, its 30-year-old design means that it missed out on the Noughties’ penchant for light and space so it lacks a little in internal light.

But that’s easily fixed by widening the windows and making some other small changes that would transform the dated interior. According to estate agent Tom Woodward, there’s a good deal of living space in Redwood and loads to work with. “I’d love to do it myself; you can really see the possibilities here,” he says.

Redwood is out at Castletreasure, elevated above Douglas village, close to Corinthians’ soccer grounds with views over the rolling rural hinterland and comes with a price tag of €800,000.

There’s a stone-flagged porch leading to the hall off which is the 18ft by 14ft living room with a brick fireplace and stone hearth. It also has patio access via sliding doors. A set of double doors lead into the marginally smaller dining room.

The old-style kitchen/dining space is a good enough size at 16ft x 12ft, with a utility room off it, and there’s a guest toilet, along with a family/TV room and a study. Most of the five bedrooms have built-ins, one has an en suite bathroom and there are two further bathrooms.
