Sale glitch helps put super-smart four-bed home back on market

BACK in October, if you blinked, you might have missed Glenora’s brief outing on the Cork property market: the super-smart family home went ‘Sale Agreed’ in just three weeks.

Unfortunately, in the protracted wait for the legals to take effect, the wheels have fallen off the sale wagon in the past week. Hence its re-appearance on the market.

Located at the foot of Maryborough Hill within a couple of minutes’ walk of Douglas village, and distinctive inside and out thanks to its architect owner’s renewal input, Glenora scorched past its initial €1.1 million guide, and was bid to over €1.45m.

Since the report of those sales was carried in these pages last Saturday, other estate agents have remarked on the particular strength of the upper end of the property market in Cork. One said he knew of over a dozen buyers in the second hand market with up to €2m to spend on suburban family homes.

Glenora, which is swiftly back under offer at €1.35m, will tick a number of boxes for such bidders. It has been completely upgraded to a showhouse specification, has four bedrooms and comprises 2,680 sq ft of space.

Glenora was originally built in the 1960s, and its bungalow shape was added to at a later date. Its child-friendly cred was enhanced when it served for a few years as a crèche.
