Take your pick from city bungalows on either side of the River Lee

MID-1900s bungalows north and south of the river Lee, in mature areas, are on offer with about €50,000 between them.

Moving on to the property market just under the €400,000 level, at €395,000, is Lisieux, in Byfield, a three-bedroom bungalow off the North Ring Road in old Mayfield.

Lisieux, or no 11, is in a quiet and mature park, Byfield, near the Cotton Ball, with front and enclosed back gardens, close to all amenities, just two miles from the city centre and with easy access to major roads and the Lee tunnel, says estate agent Brian Olden of Cohalan Downing.

It is about 1,300 sq ft, and its detached status with garage, and possibility of extending into the attic will make it of interest to traders-up, he suggests. It has hall, living room, kitchen/dining room, three bedrooms, bathroom, oil heating, and PVC double glazing, and needs slight modernising.

Meanwhile, across the city at Doughcloyne, Jarlath Boyd of Hamilton Osborne King seeks offers of over €450,000 for St Joseph’s, a four-five bed modernised bungalow with attic rooms, at Doughcloyne, between Togher and Wilton.

The upgraded home has very large back gardens with lots of storage potential for keepers of cars, boats, caravans, etc., and the house, which has been extended to c 1,650 sq ft, is in very good overall condition, notes Mr Boyd.

It has hall, sitting room, living room or optional bedroom, kitchen/family room with oak units and fireplace, utility, three other ground floor bedrooms with built-ins, bathroom and a fifth bedroom at attic level with shower room.

“This deceptively spacious four/five bedroomed detached bungalow will tick almost all of the boxes for the discerning purchaser, in pristine condition close to Wilton Shopping Centre, Cork University Hospital, colleges and other facilities, it is a good seller, and won’t be around long,” says Mr Boyd.
