Bungalow comes with overhead apartment

ONE of the nicest approaches to any Irish town is the way the road drops down into Clonakilty town through towering old hardwood trees: you just know that you are entering a place with a long history.

This curving, wooded approach with century, or more, old chestnut and beech trees is called the Convent Road, with the convent’s land banks up on the right, and large individual family homes on elevated sites on the left.

And that’s where this West Cork house enters the pretty picture at a time of autumn russet colours. Built a few decades ago, and since extended, the bungalow home has four bedrooms, with an overhead self-contained apartment.
