Suburban home with panoramic vista

A COUPLE of one-off house sites ‘suggested’ themselves back when the Copper Hill new homes scheme was being built in Cork’s Ballintemple village in the mid-1990s.

Suburban home with panoramic vista

One of the results is Ardcairn Lodge, a detached house at the high end of the Copper Hill development. Its elevated setting has views of the suburban village below sporadic greenery, the Marina, showgrounds and Pairc Ui Chaoimh and across the River Lee to Tivoli.

Carrying a €575,000 price guide with agent Timothy Sullivan, Ardcairn Lodge looks bigger than it really is, thanks to its extra width.

Internally, it has about 1,340 sq ft of space, which yields three first floor bedrooms (one with walk in wardrobe and en suite) plus a main bathroom, while the ground floor has a hall, a 18’ by 13’ sitting room with fireplace and access to a rear patio.

Then there’s an even bigger kitchen/lounge/breakfast area, which also has patio doors to the back, plus there’s a utility and guest loo.

While the accommodation doesn’t differ much from a standard three-bed, it is a different shape.

Heating is gas-fired, the sale includes carpets and curtains and the overall package is pretty maintenance-free — ie, no lawns, just paving, patio and shrubs.
