Leisure centre to transform village

PLANNING is being sought for a major sports and adventure village which, if given the green light, will totally transform one of Waterford’s most appealing coastal areas and create a busy, residential, commercial and leisure hub of its very own.

A blueprint for the multi-million euro development, complete with community centre, shops, restaurants and a park just outside Dunmore East, is now with Waterford County Council’s planners.

The plan includes a sports centre, retail and community complex, children’s adventure centre, 186 houses, 40 family holiday homes, 36 retirement apartments and a park. The development is proposed on a 70-acre site at Ballymabin on the Waterford city side of Dunmore East.
