HOLIDAY homes don’t get much prettier than this little thatched cottage near Curracloe beach in Wexford.

Built a hundred years ago or so, at Coolamaine near Oylegate village, it’s been upgraded and extended over the years. Selling agents Kehoe Properties describe it as a marvellous old world property in a scenic tranquil setting. They say it’s got lots of appeal as a summer home and are looking for offers of €200,000.

Inside there’s a living room and a kitchen with an old range and fitted units, as well as a bathroom and three bedrooms. The cottage has original timber sash windows and oil fired central heating.

It has over half an acre of gardens. To the front there’s a lawned area enclosed by trees and hedging, to the side there’s some woodland and to the rear there’s a gravelled yard.

Located around six miles from Enniscorthy, the cottage is within a 15 minute drive of Curracloe beach which was used to stage the Allied landing in Normandy in the Spielberg movie Saving Private Ryan.
