Branch out with purchase of spacious Sequoia
The trees, natives of California, are know to grow as high as 300 feet, albeit over hundreds of years. Some sequoias have been know to grow for 3,200 years, along the US’s Pacific Coast. No such longevity is expected for Rochestown’s sequoias, but with global warming you never know.
Here, the house Sequoia is more of an offering than the tree which is one of a range of hardwoods on the attractive one-third of an acre site, one of three detached houses reached via a communal entrance off Monastery Road above the Abbottswood development.
Selling agent is Malcolm Tyrrell of Cohalan Downing, who seeks over €900,000 for the 2,000 sq ft family home, with four to five bedrooms, and he says it is very well kept.
It was built c 1990, and has the stamp of a bit of architectural input in its front facade, with a tall glazed entrance hallway and staircase.
Ground level rooms include hall with oak floor and staircase with wrought iron spindles and staircase, a 15’ by 11’ living room, dining room, TV room and play room, as well as a kitchen/breakfast room with recently fitted limed oak units and patio access, with a utility and guest WC rounding off the mix.
The upper floor has a main bathroom, a master bedroom with en suite bathroom and shower, four other bedrooms, one of which — the largest at 21’ by 13’ — can be used as a study/play room, and the house has gas central heating and double glazing.
There’s a detached garage, and a cobble-lock drive with car parking. The property is likely to be heavily viewed by a number of families seeking to trade up from the greater Rochestown area’s mature housing estates.
