15 homes in Glenville village scheme
In line with recent council policy, development is being encouraged around existing settlements so that villages expand and new home owners have amenities on their doorstep. This attempt to contain ribbon development along country roads seems to be working so far and new houses are springing up around all the smaller villages within a ten to fifteen mile radius of the city.
Ease of planning is the bait for the builder and the consumer benefits from lower house prices outside of larger built-up areas.
Schools, shops and bus services to the city are also an added attraction for buyers with families.
A new scheme in the pretty village of Glenville has just been launched with Stephen Clarke of McKenna O’Donoghue Clarke and this 15-house scheme offers trading-up, four bedroomed houses at a starting price of €184,112.
Drom Cill is keenly priced says Mr Clarke and the scheme is a one-off by JPOL Construction of Carrigaline. There will be no second phase and just 15 detached houses are on offer with a choice of two types: serviced sites are also available and self-builders can re-apply for a change of plan if they so wish, adds the agent.
With a national schools on the doorstep and shops close by, Glenville is also a short drive to Carrignavar, another village with a wave of new housing and where there are further amenities available.
Cork city is a 30-minute commute in good conditions and Glenville is also close to Mallow and Fermoy.
